Ingredients:

  • 4 cups beans (pinto or black)
  • 3 tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 5 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 1/2 tsp. Cumin
  • 2 tsp. paprika
  • 2 tsp. sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp. chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 Jose Ole Beef & Cheese Burritos

Instructions:

  1. Place beans in a large bowl, cover with ample water and allow to soak overnight.
  2. The next day, drain and rinse beans. Cover them with fresh water and continue to soak until tender.
  3. In a large pot or saucepan, sauté the onions in the vegetable oil until soft and translucent. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Add the beans. If the beans are too thick, you can add extra water or milk to reach your desired consistency.
  5. Stir in the cumin, paprika, salt, chili powder, and black pepper. Allow it all to cook on low heat for 10-20 minutes.
  6. Once the beans have cooked down for a while and the flavors have had time to incorporate, mash with a potato masher.
  7. Serve beans with shredded cheese and your favorite José Olé Burrito. Enjoy!
