Q. What do you mean by “Dream Kitchen”?
A. If you’re the lucky Grand Prize Winner, you’ll get $20,000 to create the kitchen of your dreams! You can take $20,000 in gift cards from the home improvement store or stores of your choice to select your favorite cabinets, appliances, finishes and treatments, etc. The fifteen First Prize Winners will each receive a $100 gift card redeemable at Cooking.com. Q. Which José Olé® product do I use for my recipe?
A. You can use any product in the José Olé® family! José Olé® Snacks are tasty versions of your favorite Mexican foods, like quesadillas, empanadas, and even mini chimichangas and mini tacos. Taquitos are available with steak or chicken fillings and flour or corn tortillas. And, don’t forget our premium, individually wrapped burritos, chimichangas, and soft tacos!
Q. My kids helped me with my recipe. Can I submit it in their names?
A. We’re so glad your kids love to cook with our products! Unfortunately, you must be at least eighteen years old to enter the contest.
Q. Can I submit my recipe in more than one category?
A. No. Please submit your recipe in the category you think it fits best. You can always submit other recipes in other categories.
Q. I have a few great recipes that I make with José Olé® – can I submit more than one?
A. Yes. You can submit as many recipes as you like, as long as each one is different from your other entries.
Q. Can I send in a photo with my recipe?
A. Sorry — no. There is no way to attach a photo in the online recipe entry, so we can’t use photos as part of the judging process.
Q. What’s the last date I can send in my recipe?
A. You can submit your recipe two ways, either online or by mail. Online entries must be received at joseole.com by 11:59 AM ET on May 31, 2009. Or, your mailed entry must be postmarked on or before May 31, 2009.
Q. I’m not really an Internet person. Can I mail my entry?
A. Definitely! Just hand print your name, complete mailing address, daytime phone number, e-mail address (optional), and date of birth on a piece of plain 8 ½” x 11” paper along with your original recipe (with all components outlined according to the official rules). Q. Do you go through all the recipes? Or do you just choose some to judge?
A. We love to see what you’ve done with our products and we read EVERY recipe! As long as your submission follows the official rules, your recipe will be read and judged in the First Round.
Q. Do you cook the recipes when you judge them?
A. During the Second Round judging (after the consumer voting is complete), the top-5-scoring recipes in each of the five recipe categories will be kitchen-tested. During the First Round of judging, recipes are judged based on four criteria: Perceived Taste (25%); Creativity (25%); Consumer Appeal (25%); and Appropriate use of Eligible Products (25%).
Q. Is there a limit on preparation or cook time for the recipe I want to submit?
A. No there isn’t.
Q. If I mail in my entry. Will I be notified when you receive it?
A. Because we receive so many entries, we won’t be able to notify you when we get yours.
Q. Can I find out how well my recipe did if it wasn’t in the finals?
A. Unfortunately, we’ll be judging so many entries, we won’t be able to give you individual feedback on your recipe.
Q. How can I find out who won?
A. You can check out the José Olé® web site (www.joseole.com) after October 1, 2009. Or, you can send a self-addressed, stamped, business-sized envelope (Vermont residents may omit return postage) to: José Olé® Coolest Mom Recipe Challenge Winners List Requests, PO Box 2346, Darien, CT 06820.
